Where our rates come from

We don't set any price. Se3rForIQD collects prices that are already public, checks them, and shows them in one place. Here's exactly where each number comes from.

How it works

From the market to your screen

CollectEvery 5 minutes our servers read the latest public prices.
CheckPrices that look wrong or are too old are held back instead of shown.
CalculateGold, silver and world currencies are converted to dinars with the market dollar.
ShowThe website and app get the same numbers, and a snapshot is saved for history.

Each number, explained

Dollar market rates

Erbil and Baghdad come from public posts by Iraqi exchange-market (borsa) channels. The other seven cities come from a public market channel that posts all nine markets together. These are the prices exchange traders publish, not bank rates.

Checked every 5 minutes

CBI official rate

The official rate announced by the Central Bank of Iraq (cbi.iq). This is the official rate used for official transfers, which is usually below the street rate.

Checked through the day

Gold and silver

The international gold price per ounce (through CoinGecko) is turned into a price per gram, then per karat by purity (22K = 22/24 and so on), then into dinars using the Baghdad market dollar. A mithqal is 4.6656 grams. Ounce gold and silver quotes come from a public gold-market channel.

Checked every 5 minutes

World currencies

International exchange rates against the US dollar (with the European Central Bank's reference rates as a backup), combined with the Baghdad market dollar to get a dinar price for each currency.

Checked every 5 minutes

Exchange shops

Shop locations come from public map listings plus shops our team adds and checks by hand. Shop owners can ask to be added through the contact page.

History

A snapshot of every rate is saved regularly (about every 30 minutes for city rates and every few minutes for gold), which is what the charts are drawn from.

Good to know

Why a shop's price can be different

  • Shops buy and sell at slightly different prices. We show the market rate traders publish.
  • Prices can move within minutes on busy days.
  • Small or old notes, and large amounts, are often priced differently.
  • Rates differ from city to city, so check the one you're in.

Se3rForIQD is for information only. It isn't financial advice, and we're not responsible for trades made using these numbers. Always confirm the price with the shop before you exchange.
